The Garde Rurale was formed in Wallonia, Belgium, on 19 April 1941 as a rural auxiliary police force, and was a Wallon equivalent of the Flemish Boerenwacht. The members were initially unarmed but starting in 1942 light arms were issued on a limited scale.
