The SS-Totenkopf-Reiter-Standarte 1 was formed in Warsaw in May 1940 from parts of SS-Totenkopf-Reiter-Standarte. It took part in fighting both the resistance and remaining Polish soldiers as well as in actions against Jews.
It was redesignated SS-Kavallerie-Regiment 1 February 1941 and was assigned to Kommandostab RFSS. It was used to form SS-Kavallerie-Brigade in August 1941.
